 IN MEMORIUM

Lady Muirenn ingen Thigernain (Wendy Rae Kiernain)
Lady Muirenn ingen Thigernain passed from this life on February 15, 2006 after a long illness.

For those who did not know her, Lady Muirenn was a vibrant member of the populace of Twin Moons, serving there as an officer, archer, and talented artisan.  She was also apprenticed to Baroness Francesca Valentina d'Ivrea, and a member of TRM Aaron and Alisandra's Royal Court (although she insisted on resigning that position when she realized her health would no longer allow her to complete her duties).

While Lady Muirenn's talents and achievements could not help but enrich our Society, her Greatest Gift was the Grace, Joy and Vitality with which she lived her life. May we all take Joy in the Memories she provided us, for she will be sorely missed. Baroness Francesca offers the below adaptation of a William Cory translation of Callimachus’s poem “News of Your Death” (circa 300 BC) as a tribute to her apprentice.

They told me, Lady Muirenn, they told me you were dead.
They brought me bitter news and bitter tears to shed.
I wept as I remembered how often you and I
Had tired the sun with talking and sent him down the sky.

And now that thou art lying, my dear young life's guest,
A blinding ray of sun, now, newly laid to rest.
Still are my pleasant memories, thy nightingales awake,
For Death he taketh all, but them he cannot take.

IN MEMORIUM - Lady Muirenn ingen Thigernain
