Oye! Oye! Oye!
Good afternoon to all gentles of the Kingdom of Atenveldt!
It has come to my attention that several groups have been using Venmo, Zelle, and/or Square to receive SCA funds from fundraisers, such as silent auctions, or donations. Funds from a silent auction or donation should be deposited directly into an SCA checking or savings account. Funds deposited into anyone’s personal account is co-mingling. This is clearly documented in the Society Exchequer’s Handbook and Society Financial Policy III C.
There can be no co-mingling of SCA funds with the funds of any individual or business. Disbursement controls will be implemented by the branch or other entity that are sufficient to discourage misappropriation of funds and to reveal any attempted misappropriation promptly.
Currently per Society PayPal policy – the SCA is allowed to collect for events, donations and heraldry by PayPal/PayPal Zettle. No other credit card collection services are allowed. No other credit card collection services are allowed except those explicitly listed in Society Exchequer’s Handbook and Society Financial Policy. Breaking of these policies or co-mingling of funds can jeopardize the SCA’s Non-profit status.
This is a serious matter; it can be investigated by the Society’s Seneschals office.
If you are using any of these applications, please stop immediately.
Thank you.
In service to the Kingdom,
Lady Ann Devlin of the Celts, Chancellor of the Exchequer
Kingdom of Atenveldt
